Silent Hill Tour Guide trophy/achievement

So, this may be a stupid question, but I heard somewhere that you don't have to complete the "Digging up the Past" sidequest to get the "Silent Hill Tour Guide" trophy. Is that true? I mean, it didn't show up that it counted as one when I got it earlier (where I messed up on the "What's your sign" sidequest TT-TT). Please answer
