The Modern Prometheus is a memento that Harry Mason can pick up in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. This memento is a small Frankenstein's monster figure that can be obtained by playing the "Toy Zone" crane game in the entrance of the Cine-Real in Toluca Mall.
The symbolism behind the Frankenstein's monster figure is an obvious one; it represents Harry Mason, essentially Cheryl Mason's "monster". An amalgamation of Cheryl's emotions and confused perspective, Harry is neither the father his daughter remembers, nor is he the real man. He is, after all, a creation as every bit lost and afraid of his identity as Cheryl.
- "The Modern Prometheus" is the subtitle to Mary Shelley's novel, the full name being Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.
- Prometheus was a Titan in Greek mythology who angered Zeus by stealing fire from him and giving it to the mortals. Zeus punished Prometheus by binding him to a rock, where a great eagle would eat his regenerating liver every day. This may allude to Harry's inability to escape a reoccurring torment of living Cheryl's reluctance to let go.
