console vs computer

I've been looking to buy some of the games. Which version of SH2:RD had fewer glitches; PS2 Greatest Hits, or PC? Xeno the Hedgehog 18:56, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

I have both versions, and the PS2 version has no glitches (I think, never experienced any). On the PC version, I experienced a few audio problems (can be fixed easily) and a flashlight glitch. Overall, I recommend the PC version because of the clearer sound and better graphics! AlexShepherd 21:46, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
My PS2 game (Both original and directors cut), after a few years of wear and tear, lags on cutscenes, and it's hilarious XD
Eddie: "I'm just j-j-j-j-oking James"
There's no problem in the gameplay, however, and it only lags on cutscenes every once in a while. Sometimes they're fine, other times they're not. But I prefer the PS2 versions of ANY Silent Hill game. -- 050294 22:59, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
In that case, which one has more to offer? Xeno the Hedgehog 05:17, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
They're both pretty much exactly the same, you can compare these videos:
Also, keep in mind that you can download game saves for the PC straight off the internet (making getting the green hyper spray easy) and that the PC version has instant loading, meaning you don't have to wait 5 seconds everytime you enter an area. My PS2 disc has a scratch that prevents me from getting to the "result screen", which really sucks because I can't get any extra weapons, endings, etc. AlexShepherd 05:56, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
I can make peace with a few extra seconds of loading screen. Besides, the designated gaming computer in my house has Vista, so any speed that the PC version would have to offer is negated and then some. Xeno the Hedgehog 06:20, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Ps2. Maybe it's because I suck at pc gaming, but i think playing it in your basement with no lights is a very memorable experience. Unless your computer is in your basement, but the vibrating of the controller when being stabbed by pyramid head is loveable as well. I've even noticed that newer games are laggier than older ones. My xbox 36o game prototype is super laggy. I had just finished the hardest level in the game (that wasnt the final boss) and then it stops working. I've never encountered a single problem in silent hill 2 or 3, although my god of war game is pretty messed up too. get it on the ps2--Dfskelleton 05:09, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Moral of the Story

If you are the wife of an overly geometric, pixilated man, please get tested regularly for "disease." It's going around. Also, pink leopard print skirts imply sluttiness.

Another good moral is that Pyramid head Is awesome.--Dfskelleton 19:55, November 15, 2009 (UTC) Another another good moral is that even if some teenager (cough*Heather*cough) puts a fake letter from your dead wife in your mailbox doesn't mean you need to get pushed off a building, stick your arm down a toilet, jump down 8 different holes, fight acid spewing monsters, and watch your wife's clone who wears tight pink leopard print skirts get impaled 3 times just to realize that you killed her. Oh, and that even a man wearing nothing but a combat jacket, a couple shirts, jeans and tap shoes can still carry a wooden plank, a hunting rifle, a handgun, a shotgun, a pipe, a chainsaw, a giant knife 20 health drinks, 14 first aid kits, 3 ampoules, a picture of his dead wife, a tiny knife, a letter from his dead wife, an unused key to the examination room, 2 books, a bottle of 2% milk called chrism, a goblet, a radio, and a flashlight, and move like he's carrying nothing.--Dfskelleton 05:20, December 9, 2009 (UTC)

Cover Art

Who is on the cover of the game? I Think it's angela, but It could just as easily be mary, maria, or pyramid head 0_o. okay, probably not pyramid head, but Maria, Mary and Angela are the main contestants.--Dfskelleton 08:27, December 20, 2009 (UTC)

It's James. I'd recognize that face anywhere. Xeno the Hedgehog 09:18, December 20, 2009 (UTC)
It's Angela. Because I say so. Hey, the arguments have the same amount of evidence behind them.... Robert Orville Berkshire 18:35, December 20, 2009 (UTC)
Well then allow me to elaborate on my previous statement. The nose, browline, and lips are identical in shape to James' face. Furthermore, in the upper right corner of the image, you may notice James' blond bangs drooping in front of his right eyebrow. The neck leading into the jawline also matches that of James; Angela's jaw is much more angular. Xeno the Hedgehog 18:56, December 20, 2009 (UTC)
I'd agree with Robert about it being Angela. AlexShepherd 00:06, December 21, 2009 (UTC)

I do believe we have a winner.... But, to be honest, I assumed it was James myself until this convo. Robert Orville Berkshire 02:25, December 22, 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it's clearly Angela. I thought everyone knew that. --SyphonFilter1987 21:34, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
Wow, thanks for that. I always assumed it was James as well. Cool.
---------------------
I always thought it was James until I realized, him and Angela have similar faces, somebody should come up with a crack theorey about James' crazy to explain why. Half-life213 (talk) 06:22, March 31, 2013 (UTC)

Through the Fire and the Flames

Yes, corny title. Anyways, we need to get this shit straight: how should we write Angela's demise? I reverted it for two reasons, 1) I'm an asshole and 2) she's already said that it's "always like this" for her. For all we know, her visit to Silent Hill is helping her.... Or, yes, she's going to end up fighting the bag and stepping out the door. Either way, we don't know. In her own hell, she's always stepping into flames.
You certainly got the asshole part right. Anyway, she walks into FIRE. Fire tends to kills people. She clearly died. --SyphonFilter1987 21:38, January 4, 2010 (UTC)
"She clearly died" is your interpretation of the scene. For example, take a look at the sentence: "The sun is setting on an old woman." Now there are two interpretations anyone can have: 1) A woman is literally watching the sunset or 2) The woman is dying/about to die. Is one right and the other wrong? Of course not, it's how you interpret it.
Now if you rewatch the scene, Angela passes through the fire. It doesn't touch her, and she doesn't scream in pain. Her clothes don't start on fire either. She just keeps walking, as if she seems unharmed and is immune to the fire, as if she's gotten used to it all her life. Now if Angela said "Ahhhh!!!!! IT BURNS LIKE HELL." then we'd know that fire is literally fire and that she is dying, but she just keeps walking through it. Heck, how do we know that it really is fire anyway? How do we know it's not metaphorical fire, or hypothetical fire? How do we know that the fire really exists? James doesn't have any reaction to the fire, so how we even know that he even sees it? All he says is "It's hot as hell in here." Maybe all he feels is the heat of the fire, who really knows? AlexShepherd 00:13, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
I agree that it's speculative. This isn't exactly something that's copy and paste and to just post one user's interpretation doesn't work. Personally, I don't think she died. I just think she sees fire everywhere, just like James sees monsters everywhere. AlessaGillespie Talk Contributions 00:23, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
I did watch the scene again when I was playing the game yesterday. Of course, you don't see her scream and of course you don't see her clothes catch on fire. She DISAPPEARS right after she walks into the flames at the top of the stairs. And James does make a slight sound of pain when he touches the flames. I'm not going to change Angela's status but whatever. I need to replay the game to see that part again soon. --SyphonFilter1987 13:20, January 5, 2010 (UTC)
I agree with , and I cant beleive im about to say this, SyphonFilter1987 on the fact that James does get hurt when he touches the fire and remarks that its "hot as hell", making the fire real. Although I also agree that the fire could be a part of angelas otherworld, therefore not hurting HER specifically. The fire, as with the Abstract Daddys, are created from angelas fears, so she's probably used to them.--Squishymcd 13:40, January 5, 2010 (UTC)

If I could just throw in my 2 cents, but, has any one else noticed that the body the first closer in Silent Hill 3 is feeding on is Angela's character model? I'm not sure if it's really her, or if thats just the developers reusing the same character model to save memory while developing the game. MGS3Snake6

I personally think that she did die in the fire, but it didn't show it because it would be either unfitting with the music, too sad, or too gut wrenching. I don't particularly find watching people who I generally find interesting and care about burn in agony a healthy part of a good game like Silent Hill 2.Dfskelleton 22:10, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

MGS3Snake6, I just think that was team silent making a little tribute to Angela. Although I cant be entirly sure. It may have been her. Squishymcd 13:54, January 6, 2010 (UTC)

I agree with some points,

I agree with , and I cant beleive im about to say this, SyphonFilter1987 on the fact that James does get hurt when he touches the fire and remarks that its "hot as hell", making the fire real. Although I also agree that the fire could be a part of angelas otherworld, therefore not hurting HER specifically. The fire, as with the Abstract Daddys, are created from angelas fears, so she's probably used to them. Dammit! Sorry, I didnt mean to make a new post, I was trying to post on the TTFATF page.

I wish Konami would have made her fate more clear

I never said the fire was not part of Angela's otherworld. I'm surprised so many people think she survived. I automatically assumed she died when I first played the game in 2008. Go figure. Anyway, I really need to see that part again.

Is it worth noting...

Dates

If SH2 takes place 10 years after the first game, and we know the first is in 1983, then wouldn't the date be 1993? Or is it roughly 10 years later? AlessaGillespie Talk Contributions 06:47, October 2, 2011 (UTC)
