Is Mary related to the Shepherd family from Homecoming, or is this just a naming coincidence? 70.240.117.192 00:43, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't think the relationship is confirmed, but it is possible. --Painocus 11:36, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure either. All I know is that she got killed by a pillow XD --Dfskelleton 05:07, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Snow White Music Box[]

I think there may be a connection between the Snow White music box and Mary, just as there is a possible connection between the Little Mermaid music box and Laura. For one thing, on easy/normal mode, the riddle was: "Seat of the Princess who awoke from death." I believe this was sililar to Mary, as Mary "awoke from death" to console with James after the final boss fight of SH2 (well, in the 'Leave' and 'In Water' endings). On hard mode, the riddle is: "Beauty - Both a blessing and a curse thou be." This could refer to how Mary was "cursed" with the disease, and lost all of her beauty.

With this said, I propose that this theory should be added to the Trivia section, what do you guys think? Jiyanamiki 01:12, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

Sounds great.

Occupation?[]

Is there any information pointing to her occupation as a housewife? Does Lost Memories say it? They don't say it at all in the game Jiyanamiki 00:58, March 3, 2011 (UTC)

Lost Memories says it. Kind of weird, considering that James and Mary don't have any kids. I guess it shows that James and Mary were pretty low-maintenance people who didn't need lots of money to be happy -- only each other. —AlexShepherd 06:33, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
Well it might have been Mary's desire for a child that made her depict herself as a housewife. After all, she wanted to adopt Laura :p Jiyanamiki 19:36, March 4, 2011 (UTC)
A woman doesn't need kids to be a housewife. She basically stays home and does stuff. --Cell Leader 13:07, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
I believe that she was a freelance pianist before get married, since that someone who use a musical instrument in general is invited to enliven parties, and she known the husband in a party. Shortguy_Wandererbrazilian 23:00, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

So what do you think Mary's disease was?[]

Sure, we all know how she died, James suffocating her with a pillow, but as you notice, she was pretty messed up by her disease (you know you're in bad shape when you're calling yourself a monster). So what do you think it was that had infected her? --Heather Beam96 23:55, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

I think it was Leprosy. I dunno, considering her skin being blochy and that, it could be. —CherylMason12 00:02, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

Leprosy always was at the front of my mind as well, but it's not really a lethal disease. I think Team Silent weren't too concerned with giving her a real disease, so left it ambiguous. -- Shoggoth1890 09:26, May 14, 2011 (UTC)
A few days ago I read something on another page about a guy making this theory: in Silent Hill: Homecoming you can find many posters, memos, etc,, concerning Syphilis. It's still not officially accepted that Mary belonged to Homecoming Shepherd's family but it could be a hint. Syphilis is a very deforming disease, and this guy thinks that it could be possible if there was an outbreak of it in Shepherd's Glen, spreading even to Silent Hill. I don't think it's the answer (since it's a STD and James doesn't seem to be ill), but it's still interesting as a theory -- Lady ligeia 23:07, October 24, 2011 (UTC)

This is a theory[]

Is it possible that

-Mary died from AIDS

-The feeling of guilt on Mary for being a burden was because she got the disease because she cheated James, and that was why she said a few times "I am sorry for what I did to you, to us" Desacabose (Talk) 21:02, September 28, 2012 (UTC)

AIDS does not cause the severe skin destruction and scarring as seen on Mary. The symptoms of her illness are similiar to tuburculosis or similiar respiratory diseases, minus the groddy skin deformities. user:Mr Bio Shock 15px-Physical_Tonic.png 19:37, November 18, 2012 (UTC)
