Appearance in other media[]

The intro to this track has been used in several other media items. The film Elektra uses it when that one guy is summoning his tattoo, and at least one Shadow Hearts game uses it. I have heard it used in more, but cannot recall them. This made me wonder if they sampled from this track, or if Akira sampled from the same source that the others did. It does have an old feel to it, maybe it is a piece composed in Japan's distant history? Maybe in more recent history? Tried to find out, but had some trouble finding mention of it. Hopefully someone here has some insight into it. -- Shoggoth1890 20:47, February 17, 2011 (UTC)

Just heard this particular arrangement of notes in the movie called "Are You Scared?". This time rather than using the deeper piping sound, a higher flute like sound is used, giving it a kind of Arabian sound to it similar to "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" by Pink Floyd. In fact, there may be a connection between all three, but it's harder to tell since the Pink Floyd song is so high pitched. Perhaps I'll grab a sound editor to draw out and lower the pitch of the Floyd song to see how similar it sounds to it. Unedited it sounds similar but not exact, however. -- Shoggoth1890 18:08, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

Nevermind about the Pink Floyd bit. The "Are You Scared?" bit is mostly a match, minus a bit at the end. If you can stand bad horror movies, it's about 50 minutes in, when the protagonist is looking at herself in the mirror. -- Shoggoth1890 21:44, February 23, 2011 (UTC)
