I didn't mean that her makeup was messy - that I wouldn't have a problem with. Look at the makeup for Dark Alessa in the first film, it was super messy, but still worked. The adult Dark Alessa just looked stupid, like some kind of emo mime. Toning down the amount of white paint splattered all over her face, outlining her eyes in pink rather than black to give them an infected look, and replacing that horrendous black lipstick with smeared blood would have gone a long way to making her look scary, rather than funny. Claudia's and young Dark Alessa's makeup was also awful, making them look like china dolls or something, but not as bad as the older Dark Alessa. I remember people theorizing that Dark Alessa was wearing a mask before the film came out, based entirely on how caked on her makeup was.

I can definitely see where you're coming from, really just a matter of how you look at it. Each and every time I watch the first movie and see Christabella praising her god as a burning child screams her lungs out, I wish so badly to just reach into the television and slap the shit outta the bitch. It really was a very disturbing film without a doubt, a feeling I get with each watch, and same goes for the games, which I personally find more hellish, but probably because it's obviously you controlling the character and you can only make so many insane monsters look real on film. Having a game where you find out this seven-year-old girl was impregnated with a god and suffered for years... yeesh. Either way, it's down-right diabolical, movie or game.

Her make-up was definitely pretty damn messy, but ironically that's why I enjoyed it as the choice added to the filth of the Otherworld for me. I think if it'd been more precise and "clean," I would've been a bit disappointed. But all a matter of opinion. (:

Guy Cihi has one acting credit in his entire career. He is nowhere near having the capabilities to play any character - James or otherwise - in a major motion picture. He might be okay as an extra, I guess. Sean Bean shouldn't take a James role either, because combining the plot of the first film and SH2 is fucking stupid. There are other actors who could make a James that is 10,000,000 times more believable than Guy Cihi could even dream of.

It's just not James without Guy Cihi. I have nothing against Troy Baker, but Guy Cihi will always be James to me. In fact, I'm still waiting for "Guy Cihi Let's Play Silent Hill 2" which he said he would like to do in the future. Heck, I'd also love to see Monica and David do a Let's Play with Guy. It'd be awesome and hilarious.

I don't see Sean Bean bring able to pull off, "I'm not crazy! At least... I don't think so?" either.

I would have to say an original story would be better than trying to adapt the games. That way at least, I can't say I disliked it because it was 'too different' to the game it's based on. I've only really seen the first film. After the first Silent Hill film and several Resident Evil films, I kind of lost any hope for video-game adaptions. So bring on an original story that still keeps in touch with the universe it's based on! (And please don't just throw in Pyramid Head randomly).

If Silent Hill 2 is going to be adapted though, I can think of some excellent James Sunderland look-alikes:

I agree with you, that sounds like it could be a real great movie. It'd be hard to find a director that could do that, though. So many directors, as much as they claim that they are such huge fans of the game, they will always find a way to add some stupid/unnecessary twist that differentiates it from the source material.

But the idea is nice... Maybe one day we'll have another great director like Christophe Gans come along :)
