Nurse (Silent Hill: Homecoming)
From Silent Hill Wiki
Dr. Fitch's Office
The Nurse is the first enemy encountered by Alex Shepherd in Silent Hill: Homecoming, occurring soon after the first transition to the Otherworld. They appear similar to their film counterpart, with very deformed and damaged faces, twitchy movement and an attraction to any source of light. They are dressed in pink nurse uniforms, and, when radiated with the flashlight, one can see a fetus growing inside their wombs.
Nurses are rather easy enemies to overcome, and can be defeated using melee combos with the knife. Turning off the flashlight will lower the chance of being attacked by a nurse, however this also hinders Alex as he is often plunged into complete darkness without it.
Symbolism
In this game, they represent Alex's institutionalization in the hospital, and his suppressed libido. More than this, however, they seem to be a nod to the films, with borrowed elements from Silent Hill 2. In the game, there are hints that Alex believed that the nurses in the military were overly sexualized to comfort the wounded soldiers. The fetuses they carry inside could also symbolize Alex's brother's birth.
