The First Aid Kit is an obtainable item that appears in every Silent Hill game in the series, excluding Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. The first aid kit heal a large amount of the character's health, they are commonly found in hidden locations throughout the games. They usually appear as white, metal cases with a red cross on the front, denoting its medical contents.
In Silent Hill 4: The Room, first aid kits are called Portable Medical Kits. When health drinks are consumed en-masse, they can equal the effects of this item. A stronger version of the first aid kit is the ampoule.
In Silent Hill: The Arcade, first aid kits are called Emergency kits and are dropped by specific enemies upon their defeat. Once obtained, the emergency kit will restore 30 life points to the player. The emergency kit has the words "First aid kit" written on the box, and a red heart symbol on its front, instead of the standard red cross.
In Silent Hill: Book of Memories, first aid kits are called Health Packs, and can be purchased at Howard's Shop for 250 MR, or found scattered throughout the dungeons. The player is initially limited to carrying four health packs at a given time, but this number may increase depending on the number of backpack upgrades the player has purchased.
In Silent Hill 3, the box of the first aid kit states it has:
- Sterilization antibacterial
- Burn medicine
- Emergency bandage
- Safety pin
- Using 20 first aid kits in Silent Hill: Downpour unlocks the achievement/trophy "Hypochondriac".
- The first aid kit is the only obtainable health item in Silent Hill: Downpour.
- In Homecoming, players are given a choice whether they want to save the badly-wounded Deputy Wheeler (at the cost of one first aid kit) or not. Their decision would lead to different endings.
