Robbie the Rabbit is an anthropomorphic rabbit character that has made appearances in many of the Silent Hill games. He is a mascot of Lakeside Amusement Park and has much merchandise based on him, usually as a doll.
For the most part, his role seems to serve little more than to provide an ambiguous level of unease to the player, due to the odd nature of his existence within the world of Silent Hill, his bright colors contrasting from the rust brown and dark red of everything else, and his recurring cameos.
Some versions of Robbie are large enough to act as a mascot costume for a human and it is unknown whether there is a person, dead or alive, inside. Robbie is primarily seen with pink fur, and occasionally blue and yellow, under overalls. In some of his appearances, his mouth is stained with blood. His pink variant wears a green bow-tie while his blue variant wears a yellow bow-tie.
Appearances[]
Silent Hill 3[]
Robbie's first appearance is in Silent Hill 3, where he is revealed to be a mascot for the Lakeside Amusement Park. Large models, large enough to be costumes, of Robbie can be found slumped in various areas of the park as if "dead".
Robbie's body(s) can be seen many times while exploring the amusement park and he can also be seen as a doll in the souvenir store. Examining the tourist information scattered throughout the amusement park reveals that Robbie is one of its four animal mascots, along with Kathy the Kitty, Huey the Horse, and Dawn the Duck. Heather Mason can unlock a Robbie T-shirt to wear called "Killer Rabbit".[1] He also appears as the icon for the game's save file on a PlayStation 2 memory card, which shows him running, or, perhaps more appropriately, chasing.
Silent Hill 4: The Room[]
In Silent Hill 4: The Room, a Robbie the Rabbit doll is seen sitting on a bed belonging to Eileen Galvin. While he isn't seen actually moving, he does change posture once Eileen is rushed to the hospital. He is then turned toward the player, pointing at Henry Townshend menacingly. A hot-air balloon of his head can also be seen outside of Henry's window, which, for unknown reasons, has its mouth bloodied. Cynthia Velasquez has a tattoo of Robbie on her right buttock, only visible when she is wearing her alternate costume. In the Walter Sullivan Victim Files, Miriam Locane's silhouette is seen holding a Robbie the Rabbit doll.
Silent Hill: The Arcade[]
In Silent Hill: The Arcade, Robbie is an enemy that appears in groups at Lakeside Amusement Park. They have squeaky, high pitched laughs that can be heard before attacking the player. Aside from the noticeable absence of blood around his mouth, Robbie wields a small variety of weapons, which include throwing axes, chainsaws, and shotguns. Because The Arcade takes place before Silent Hill 3, it can be assumed that The Arcade is the reason for the bloody costume corpses in Silent Hill 3. In further connections to Silent Hill 3, a number of Robbies can be seen riding the Happy Carousel, which the players must defeat to progress. Robbie also appears in the UFO ending's credits, where he is seen playing Gradius.
Silent Hill: Homecoming[]
In Silent Hill: Homecoming, Robbie the Rabbit appears once again as the Robbie Doll. The doll is a dark purple, with red eyes and no blood.
Alex Shepherd must obtain the Robbie doll for his younger brother, Joshua Shepherd. The doll is first encountered in Alchemilla Hospital, when Alex goes searching for it. It is found inside a mirror, just having been pulled inside a fleshy hole. Failure to correctly pull the doll out will result in Alex's arm being severed. Once Alex has obtained Robbie he returns it back to Joshua, only for Joshua to run away from him in response.
The Robbie doll is encountered again in the Otherworld Shepherd House, where he is used as a key to solve one of the puzzles.
Robbie can also be seen in one of the Grand Hotel Postcards.
Silent Hill: The Escape[]
In Silent Hill: The Escape, Robbie acts as a tutorial guide for the game.
Silent Hill: Downpour[]
In Silent Hill: Downpour, Robbie appears as a collectible trinket obtained in the "Digging Up the Past" sidequest, it can be observed in the extras menu. It resembles the doll from Homecoming.
Silent Hill: Book of Memories[]
In Silent Hill: Book of Memories, Robbie appears in the intro of the game as a doll. The player can use the Konami Code at the main menu to unlock a weapon called the Robbie Doll. A pink Robbie mask can be worn as an accessory. In the DLC Expansion Pack, a Blue Robbie Mask can also be worn. A Robbie the Rabbit Pin is an equippable artifact.
Silent Hill: The Short Message[]
In Silent Hill: The Short Message, a Robbie the Rabbit sticker appears on one of Anita's school lockers.
Silent Hill: Revelation[]
Robbie appears as a plush toy multiple times throughout Silent Hill: Revelation, the sequel to the Silent Hill film.
In the first moments of the film, during a nightmare that occurs in Lakeside Amusement Park, Heather Mason crouches beside a large clean Robbie on the ground, and as she catches her breath, she glances at him and he suddenly turns his head to her, and she flees in fear.
During the bus ride to Heather's residence, a seemingly mentally unstable man is seen giggling and playing with a small Robbie the Rabbit plush toy.
When Silent Hill, West Virginia shifts to the Otherworld, Heather passes through a corridor and there is a Robbie plush toy next to a birthday cake.
Finally, in Lakeside Amusement Park, Heather crouches beside a large Robbie again, his face smeared with blood, only this time he doesn't move. There are also many smaller plush toy Robbies being given away as prizes for the sideshow games, hanging around in dirty plastic bags.

- The creator of Robbie (Usagi Tanaka)[3][4] also made a bizarre Silent Hill-esque short film called "The Mystery of the Rabbit's Death".
- Concept art suggests Robbie was originally called "Tommy".[2]
- The official website for The Arcade misspells Robbie's name as Robby.
- Despite the fact that Lakeside Amusement Park appears in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, Robbie is completely absent in the entire game.
- Nearly 100 Robbie dolls appear on set for Silent Hill: Revelation.
- There is a pink rabbit head shape in the first game. It can be found on the back windshield of a car by Annie's Bar. It could serve as foreshadowing of Robbie.[3]
- Several companies have produced real-life Robbie merchandise:
- Gaya Entertainment created a soft plush stuffed animal version of Robbie about 37cm tall. It is unable to stand by itself and always sits.[4]
- Gecco created four statues of Robbie. There is a pink souvenir version with no blood, a pink version with blood, blue and green. They all come with steel pipes and chainsaws. The souvenir/pink one has a black chainsaw with "To You My Dear" on it. The blue one has a yellow chainsaw with "Your Fingerpost". The green one has a reddish-orange chainsaw with "Together We Are One" on it, and its steel pipe is gold, a reference to the Sewer Fairy.
- Medicom Toy made a Robbie figure in their "Real Action Heroes" line. This one is poseable, comes with a black chainsaw and steel pipe, and two detachable hands to hold the weapons.[5]
