The Jeweled Heart is an obtainable item in Silent Hill: Origins. It is located in the Riverside Motel pool, but Travis Grady can only obtain it after switching to the Otherworld. When broken using the vice in the Maintenance Room, it is revealed to contain a wedding ring, which is used to solve the Calendar Puzzle.
Symbolism[]
While it may initially appear to be a strange and out of place curio, when further analyzed, it would appear the Jeweled Heart is actually a representation of Richard Grady's own spirit. The pool it is found in at the motel also happens to be shaped like a crooked heart, though it is only reached by going into the darkness of the Otherworld.
In appearance, it is a fragile, valuable thing, and yet it has been cast aside and discarded in the bottom of a pool, seemingly unwanted. All the same, after his beloved wife Helen attacks him and curses him every time he visits her, his spirit grows more and more vulnerable and prone to break without proper care taken to it.
Finally, when Richard wakes up to the realization that she's too far gone, he is so devastated that he ultimately takes his own life. All the same, in order to progress through his journey, Travis must crush the Jeweled Heart in a vice and shatter it, his wedding ring revealed to have been the rattling from inside.
Not long after this, Travis can find the final cause of death photo, picturing an obscured shot of his father heading back to Room 500, the margin vaguely stating "Cause of Death: Broken Heart", paralleling this act.
