Backpack Upgrades are items in Silent Hill: Book of Memories that increase the player's inventory, allowing them to carry extra weapons, tool kits, health packs and ammo. Backpack Upgrades can be purchased at Howard's Shop.
There are several backpack upgrades consecutively made available to the player:
- Backpack Upgrade 1: Carry up to 1 extra weapon, 5 health packs, 5 ammo clips, and 2 tool kits. Price: 1,000 MR
- Backpack Upgrade 2: Carry up to 2 extra weapons, 6 health packs, 6 ammo clips, and 3 tool kits. Price: 4,500 MR
- Backpack Upgrade 3: Carry up to 3 extra weapons, 7 health packs, 7 ammo clips, and 3 tool kits. Price: 5,000 MR
- Backpack Upgrade 4: Carry up to 4 extra weapons, 8 health packs, 8 ammo clips, and 3 tool kits. Price: 5,500 MR
- Backpack Upgrade 5: Carry up to 5 extra weapons, 9 health packs, 9 ammo clips, and 4 tool kits. Price: 6,000 MR
