Silent Hill General Discussion
Just Updated
This singular side quest is honestly one of the most horrifying things in the Silent Hill series for me. Even all of the grotesque monsters, supernatural spookiness, and cult shenanigans didn't unsettle me as much as this very short side story. I myself am autistic so reading a tale of a young girl being killed in an incredibly cruel way by her own mother purely because she was autistic was... disturbing, to say the very least. It was a purely selfish act on the mothers part to blame her own frustration on a kid who has no control over how their brain works and is probably not being given proper support, and it is a narrative that never fails to get under my skin. That confession note made my blood boil.
And the worst part? It's accurate. This isn't a fictional situation spurred on by demons or cults or vengeful ghosts. This is something that happens in real life, far far too often. Autistic and disabled children who are murdered by family members due to being seen as burdens is something that happens disturbingly often. The more disturbing part? These monsters are often praised and their actions are brushed off as reasonable. The words from the mother in the note are the exact words used by these murderers, and often other parents of autistic children who dont understand how to not be assholes to their kids or support their needs in any meaningful way. This quest is pure realism in a world of chaos, in the most gut twisting way possible.
And honestly? I applaud the developers for this. THIS is horror. THIS is Silent Hill. Stories that are wrong and unjust, and far too close to reality for comfort. Mirroring the real world, real people, showing their ugly underbelly. My favorite part though? The mother is never shown as a forgivable person, She's written as the monster she is, which is what Silent Hill excels at! Taking those who hurt the innocent and showing their cruelty for what it is to anyone who enters. And making people remember the sins they reeeally dont want to, of course. Very short quest, but certainly one worth remembering.
See in 1 there is a scene where Harry escapes but also dies in a car crash. Both the ending have an sequel that is SH3 and shattered memories but I wanna know which is the real one. Many say the death is not the canon but maybe the goodbye and thank you daddy is heard when he is dying and she leaves him. Most people got bad ending which makes me feel that the bad one is the real one. The good + dosent make sense cause how can u just pick up a random liquid from floor and just throw it randomly knowing she might be ok with it. I’m new here and played 3 but saw gameplay for 1 so don’t spoil 2 and any other silent hill games pls
Hi guys,
Long story short, I have got an OG 500GB PS4 with Silent Hill PT by Hideo Kojima still installed inside.
My blueray drive does not work properly, so I did not play anymore with my PS4 because my disks can be played.
It passed a long time and I do not want to repair it since it is probably not worth the cost.
Digital games, as PT demo, is absolutly working as intended.
I am asking in this fandom if anyone is interested in buying the console at a price higher than what gamestop or ebay would.
I'm in Europe.
For further information feel free to contact me on discord.

I hope Dusk Golem's hearsay about the Silent Hill series returning proves to be true. Let's keep our fingers crossed, people. I'm hoping for the very best at the PS5 event tomorrow night, and you should too!
I'm posting this discussion because a lot of brand new users are creating articles about really really trivial Dead by Daylight stuff, now that SH was announced to appear that game. Some examples include giving each individual ability or perk its own article, and creating separate pages for Cheryl Mason (Dead by Daylight) and Pyramid Head (Dead by Daylight).
- Cheryl Mason in Dead by Daylight is Heather Mason. Her character bio in Dead by Daylight is pretty clear that the DLC is taking place after the events of Silent Hill 3, even if it's technically a non-canonical crossover.
- The developer has also said that the Executioner is based on Silent Hill 2's Pyramid Head. Even the Bogeyman from Homecoming and Red Pyramid from the films don't have separate articles, and this is just a non-canonical appearance of Silent Hill 2 Pyramid Head in a multiplayer online game.
Most of the information that was in these articles was retreading stuff already mentioned at Dead by Daylight: Chapter XVI - Silent Hill or stuff that can be easily added there. I think the mods and most people will agree that creating articles about individual abilities or individual appearances of characters that already have articles isn't warranted.
I don't know. The rumours via people like "Dusk Golem" have me slightly excited about a possible return, but the lack of news over the past 8 years about this series has, quite frankly, been more frustrating than anything else.
Silent Hill was my second favourite series for quite a number of years, second only to Resident Evil. Although I'm of the belief that the RE Engine is not what everybody makes it out to be and the series as a whole is getting rather shitty now, I still consider it my all-time favourite video game franchise. I'm now more into The Last of Us, Days Gone and The Evil Within (because they aren't cheaply made) than I am Resident Evil.
They're arguably underrated games that people for some reason, seem to like to shit on. And I cannot believe that I'm calling Sony titles "underrated" games, but they kind of are. But those games have more of a backbone to them, in that there's so much more to do, and visually, they're all splendid.
The last good Silent Hill title was probably Origins. That was way back in the mid-2000s, though. Homecoming has awful combat mechanics, but is backed by an okay story, and Downpour is very below average. And not having Team Silent behind the games was probably why they failed.
Many survival horror games aren't grabbing me by the neck anymore. I think companies are too busy copying trends and soaking the art out of them. People are acting like the remakes of RE2 and 3 are winners, but honestly, they felt like overpriced junk I wish I could disown. Especially RE3. It's a cheesy, short, and soulless game. But for some reason, Capcom gets more praise than Naughty Dog, and other major publishers. I honestly think that's kind of pathetic, giving that Capcom is just doing these games as a cash grab, and even Resident Evil 8: Village sounds bland already.

There's plenty of information about theories and symbolism and all that on the wiki, which is all well and good, but I'd like to propose the simplest explanation possible. Gravitas. Pyramid head switches from the knife to the spear in the scene at the end of the hospital, to chase James and Maria through the twisting hallways. Would that scene have had any impact or feeling of tension if he was slowly trundling along with the heavy knife that he's been shown to only barely be able to swing around? Of course not. He needed something lightweight, that wouldn't slow him down so he could give a proper chase. it just boils down to narrative convenience.
Not sure if people will see this but does anyone have any theories or hopes of what Silent Hills plot could of been if it hadn't been cancelled, hypothetically ?
So in Silent Hill 4, the song Tender Sugar has multiple versions.
and lastly, this cutscene remix .
I was hoping if anyone knows where i might be able to find that last version, it's rather soothing and I really would like to hear it without the dude talking over it.
please and thank you for your time <3
My question is pretty simple: when you first meet Eddie vomiting in the apartment bathroom (ostensibly a visceral reaction to having just killed for the first time), when he is about to leave James says "You be careful Eddie", and Eddie seems about to say something more: "James, I...I.... um..." but then he settles for "You be careful to." I know this is a small moment which may well mean nothing, but its been bugging me a bit: does anyone have an idea or theory about what Eddie wanted to say there? Was he about to confess that he HAD killed the person in the fridge? He seemed to want to say something about himself or on confess some feeling? IDK
So, playing Homecoming. Chilling in the hotel, finding postcards for a creepy singing lady, it's a great time. But then good ol' pyramid head decides to come and make some mf eye contact while Alex is cowering like a 2 year old. But, like.. why? It isn't even like Homecoming is right next, or even related to, SH2. Did producers just wanna recycle Sexy Big Knife Man or..? What's the reasoning?
